AI for business
Practical AI, explained without the hype.
AI is very good at some jobs and poor at others. Here's where it's worth using in a small or mid-sized business, where it isn't, and how your data is kept safe.
- Read 14 new emails
- Sorted: 3 quote requests · 2 urgent · 9 FYI
- Checked job history in your CRM
- Drafted 3 quotes from your price list
- Waiting for approval (3 drafts)
- Approved by the office
- Quotes sent · job cards created

What it looks like in practice.

An honest view
Where AI helps, and where it doesn't.
Good fit
- Reading and extracting information from documents, emails and forms
- Drafting text a person then checks: replies, reports, summaries
- Searching and answering from your own knowledge
- Sorting, tagging and routing high volumes of incoming work
- Repetitive multi-step tasks with clear rules and a review step
Poor fit (for now)
- Decisions that need accountability, such as legal, medical or financial advice, without a qualified person checking
- Tasks where a small error is costly and can't be caught before it matters
- Processes that aren't defined yet. AI speeds up a good process; it doesn't invent one
- Anything where your data isn't digital, or isn't allowed to leave a particular system
- Replacing the relationship with your customers
Data safety
Your data stays yours, and stays in Australia where it can.
Client data is handled the way you'd expect a careful Australian business to handle it.
Hosted in Australia
Applications Dextry hosts run on servers in Sydney, and backups are kept in a separate Australian region.
You know where data goes
Before any AI feature is switched on, you're told which model provider it uses, where that provider processes data, and whether it keeps any of it. Where an Australian-hosted option exists, it's the default.
Not used for training
Your data is only sent to AI providers under terms that don't allow it to be used to train their models.
Only what's needed
AI features receive the minimum information needed for the task. Personal details are left out where the task doesn't need them.
A person stays in charge
Important outputs are reviewed before they're acted on, and every AI action is recorded so it can be checked later.
Built for the Privacy Act
Systems are designed with the Australian Privacy Principles in mind: access controls, audit trails, and the ability to correct or delete personal information.
